The manifold is an assembly designed to collect the exhaust gas from two or more cylinders into one pipe. A catalytic converter, on the other hand is a device used to reduce the toxicity of emissions from an internal combustion engine. The tailpipe is the final stage of the whole exhaust system. This is where the exhaust is released.
