The second generation of the Dodge Ram made the pickup truck one of the most popular pickups in the market. Marketed for the 1994 model year, the Ram is designed with the iconic grille which gives the vehicle its aggressive look. Recently, the 2009 model year version of the Dodge Ram was spotted and its manufacturer has divulged some information concerning the upcoming version of the Ram.
The 2009 model year version of the Ram is designed using some style concepts used on the Dodge Charger sedan. The nose of the 2009 Dodge Ram looks like that of the Charger. This makes the iconic nose of the Ram even look more aggressive. The gunsight grille which is the staple of the Dodge Ram design for the past years is still present. The headlight configuration is similar to previous Rams. In relation to its grille, the headlight of the 2009 Ram is lower. The body and the rear of the 2009 Ram is unchanged. But since production of the 2009 Ram is still far off, it is possible that there will also be changes made to the rear and body of the Dodge Ram like the Dodge Ram pickup nerf bar.
One thing that the Ram must contend with is its competitors which will be making their presence in the market felt even before this Ram goes into production. One of its strong competitions is the GMC Sierra. The Chevy Silverado is also popular among truck buyers as well as the redesigned Toyota Tundra. Ford is also expected to come out with a redesigned F-150 which is expected to come out after the 2009 Dodge Ram makes its debut in the market. The popularity of the F-150 among truck buyers may cost the Ram significantly in the market. Even if the Ram is considered as the best looking in its family, buyers may tend to wait for the release of the redesigned F-150 instead of buying a Dodge Ram unit.
To increase its appeal among truck buyers, Dodge is expected to give the Ram the same 4.0-liter V6 engine that is being used by the Dodge Nitro SUV. The said engine will give the Ram 260 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. That power will go a long way to make the Ram a strong contender in its class.
