Ski Loon Mountain

Ski season is under way, and New Hampshire has been getting tons of snow for those expert and novice skiers that can't wait to get going. Loon Mountain, situated in Lincoln New Hampshire, has been a top ski destination for New Englanders for years. Not only is Loon only a 2 hour drive from Boston, but it also has several types of trails for all types of skiers.
Lincoln New Hampshire is a quaint and beautiful town that features restaurants, shopping, natural wonders, and great attractions. I'd like to take this opportunity to provide a brief guide for visitors to Lincoln New Hampshire who plan to Ski Loon Mountain.
1. Driving Directions - Loon is easy to get to from Boston: From the north or south take exit 32 off I-93. Turn left; and head 2-½ miles up Route 112 on the right. From east or west, take Route 112, Kancamagus Highway, and 2 1/2 miles east of Lincoln.
2. Loon Mountain Hotels - There are a variety of lodging options in the Lincoln area, including Loon Ski and Stay Packages that offer a combo of hotel and lift tickets. Be sure to browse online vacation sites that specialize in Loon Ski Packages.
3. Ski Loon Mountain - Based on the skiing experience of your group, you should decide which of Loon's 3 mountains you want to start off on.
Loon Peak - For groups with kids and novice skiers, Loon Peak is a good starting peak. Loon Peak's starter trail is Bear Claw Trail. Bear Claw also marks the start of Loon's Gondola Ride starts, which is a fantastic way to check out the beautiful views Loon Peak has to offer. East Basin (a section of Loon Peak) is also great place for expert skiers to test their skills on a higher grade slope.South Peak - For mid-level skiers, South Peak provides two rapid runs, Boom Run and Cruiser, which will take you on both sides of the peak on some classic New England ski trails. Adept skiers should consider Rip Saw, which is a double black diamond trail that breaks off of Boom Run.North Peak - North Peak is Loon's highest, and provides some great scenic trails. These slopes are ideal for taking in New Hampshire's fresh mountain air and awesome natural scenery.
4. Lincoln Dining - Although there are quite a few dining options in Lincoln, NH, here are a few of the tastiest establishments available:
Gordi's Fish and Steak House - Located on the Kancamagus right across the street from the Lincoln Center, Gordi's is the place for steak and fish. The wilderness themed atmosphere is a great complement to the amiable service and tasty dishes.Vita Cafe - Vita's is a quaint cafe on Main St which provides delicious homemade dishes in a relaxing atmosphere. Stop by here for a coffee, pastry, full meal, and a glass of beer or wine.Common Man - Common Man is the place for skiers and hikers with an appetite. This restaurant serves hearty American Fare in a casual dining environment, with dishes like prime rib and baked mac n' cheese.
