Sculptor Jim Gary led the 20th Century to understand the need to recycle, he built sculptures that rose into the sky and brought delight to children from four to ninety -four.
Jim Gary lived most of his life in New Jersey, it's unfortunate that the State where he worked and resided never accepted an artist of color. It didn't slow Jim down and when riots in Asbury Park, and Newark , NJ broke out in the late sixties and early seventies Jim turned to something new "Dinosaurs". So he set aside his first love "The Abstracts" and started building Dinosaurs, something new and he took his act on the road. This journalist held Jim Gary's last exhibit from November 15,2005 through January 2006. It is sad that Jim Gary fell ill following an auto accident the Friday before his second showing December 15, 2005 and suffered a stroke which led to his death after being taken off life support on January 14, 2006
